Dairy Cow Slaughter Down 7.6% in July
The United States Department of Agriculture released the July dairy cow slaughter numbers this afternoon, showing 19,000 fewer cows were sent to slaughter in July compared to a year ago.
July 2014 cow slaughter did pick was up nearly 1,100 head per day over last month, however. June slaughter dipped to 199,000 cows. July slaughter was 232,000.
For the year, cow slaughter still lags 2013 by 195,000 head, a decline of 10.7%
