Chances Rise to 50% for 30-year California Drought

While harvest has begun on what is expected to be a bin-busting corn crop, California and the Southwest received news that their historic drought might hang around much longer.

Scientists from Cornell, the University of Arizona and the U.S. Geological Survey say the chance of a "megadrought" lasting for more than 30 years has increased to 50%. Further, they say, the odds of a 10-year drought afflicting the southwestern U.S. have increased to 80%. Read more from the Los Angeles Times here.
