North Carolina Legislature Overrides Ag Gag Veto
The North Carolina state legislature over-rode a Gov. Pat McCrory’s veto of a so-called “ag gag” law yesterday.
The bill will allow employers to sue employees for secretly photographing or shooting video of workplace activities. They can now sue for up to $5,000 per day in punitive damages in addition to being compensated for actual damages. The bill becomes law June 10.
The Humane Society of the United States reportedly spent $50,000 in a TV campaign to defeat the bill. You can read the full report from the Charlotte Observer here.
