U.S., Not China, Biggest Buyer of New Zealand Dairy Farms
According to a report in dairyreporter.com, U.S. citizens are the biggest buyers of New Zealand dairy farmland.
For the two years ending December 2014, U.S. interests purchased 38,000 acres, or 56% of the freehold acres sold. The land was purchased in five parcels for $53.7 million.
China is often thought of as the largest buyer of New Zealand dairy farms. But it conducted just one transaction, for 8,160 acres, paying $43.1 million.
The other foreign buyers were from the United Kingdom and Sweden.
