Vermont Company to Supply Greek Yogurt for USDA Program
A Vermont-based dairy company has been selected as one of the suppliers of Greek yogurt for the USDA National Lunch Program for April, May and June.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports Brattleboro's Commonwealth Yogurt will supply 16,800 pounds of Greek yogurt in 32-ounce containers to schools in Vermont, Connecticut and California.
Commonwealth, a joint venture founded by Tom Moffitt and Benjamin Johnson, produces Green Mountain Creamery Greek yogurt.
Alfons van Heerwaarden, Commonwealth's director of business development, says one of the company's main goals is to get involved with the community.
Greek yogurt was added to the USDA's national school lunch program in 2013.
