Livestock, Diesel Pollutants Controlled by California Law
California is taking a major step to restrict air pollutants from diesel trucks and livestock.
On Monday, Gov. Jerry Brown signed the bill, cutting emissions of methane from dairy cows and other animals by 40 percent.
The law requires the state’s dairy industry to find a way to reduce methane, such as using methane digesters. However, those systems aren’t cheap.
Carbon from diesel trucks gets slashed by 50 percent.
This law is the latest in a series of California bills in California focusing on climate change.
