Holding Companies of Alta, GENEX Merger Complete
The holding companies of Alta Genetics and GENEX announced last week that the merger of the companies has been completed, forming a new global leader in cattle artificial insemination genetics and farm management information. Both Alta and GENEX will continue to operate as separate companies.
The newly formed organization is known as URUS, with corporate headquarters based in Madison, Wis.
The intent to merge Koepon Holding BV and Cooperative Resources International (CRI) was first announced last December. Koepon Holding is a private, Netherlands-based company while CRI is a U.S.-based cooperative. It is the first time such a merger has occurred, with a U.S. cooperative taking a minority stake in a larger, global company. The merger followed months of due diligence, and votes by each organization’s board of directors and delegate bodies of CRI.
Included in the merger are the following companies: AgSource, Alta Genetics, GENEX, Jetstream Genetics, PEAK/GENESIS, SCCL and VAS.
“Dairy and beef cattle producers are the heart of this organization, and so we want to ensure our members and clients have access to the best products and services at a competitive price,” says Cees Hartmans, CEO of URUS. “We want to be your partner of choice for cattle genetics, reproduction and farm management information for years to come.”
