When harvesting first crop alfalfa, it's important to get the timing right to optimize yield and quality. In normal conditions, the harvest from first crop alfalfa can make up as much as 40% of your total alfalfa harvest for the year. When it's cut at the proper stage, digestibility is at its peak to allow for more milk once the forage hits the ration.
