Doug Nuttleman, a Nebraska dairy farmer and National Milk Producer Federation (NMPF) board member, testified before the Senate Ag Committee today, providing a bit more detail on NMPF's plan to restructure dairy policy. His full testimony can be read here.
In essence, NMPF wants new risk management tools, including a dairy producer income protection program similar to a revenue insurance program at little or no cost to producers.
It also wants to revamp Federal Price Support and Federal Milk Marketing Order Programs to direct resources more effectively And it wants to some how involve more of the industry in funding its Cooperatives Working Together program.
