Eden Prairie, MN — Milk Specialties Global Animal Nutrition is pleased to introduce Energy BoosterEB hP bag for web hP, an energy-dense, rumen-inert fat supplement with additional palmitic acid for a boost in butterfat and effective levels of stearic acid for improved body condition and more milk yield. Energy Booster hP (the hP stands for high palm) is designed for mid- to late-lactation cows past peak milk production and out of negative energy balance.

"We are excited to offer a new Energy Booster product," says Marty Brady, general manager of Milk Specialties Global Animal Nutrition. "Energy Booster hP provides a balanced approach to palm nutrition with higher levels of palmitic acid in combination with effective levels of stearic acid. This product takes a dual approach in the cow’s daily metabolism by providing net energy for higher butterfat production, as well as other functions relating to milk yield and better body condition. These are benefits dairy producers have come to expect from Energy Booster products."

According to Brady, the combination of palmitic and stearic acids gives cows the energy balance they need with the boost in butterfat dairy producers want. "With four parts palmitic acid to one part stearic, Energy Booster hP provides more long-term nutritional value than competitive palm products," Brady adds.

Similar to Energy Booster 100 and Energy Booster Mag, new Energy Booster hP features high levels of saturated, free fatty acids — the form of energy cows metabolize most naturally. Energy Booster hP’s balanced fatty acid composition has been formulated for dairy cows to maximize milk fat and milk volume, plus maintain positive energy balance and body weight, without reducing intake.

"With a minimum of 65% palmitic acid, this product is designed for cows 120 days in milk through dryoff for an extra boost in milkfat percentages. It’s perfect for producers who can feed their mid- to late-lactation cows separately, or who need an extra boost in butterfat," says Chuck Soderholm, director of research and nutrition at Milk Specialties Global Animal Nutrition.

For fresh, open cows, Soderholm says, Energy Booster 100 and Energy Booster Mag are a better dry-fat fit, providing cows with higher energy value and helping them reach peak production and reproduction goals. However, if producers want more butterfat and are considering feeding a high-palm product to fresh cows, Soderholm says, they should first consult with their nutritionist.

During field studies, Energy Booster hP was tested to ensure palatability in dairy rations. Manufactured in Paris, Ill., under the same manufacturing practices that produce Energy Booster 100 and Energy Booster Mag, Energy Booster hP is available for shipment in 50-lb. bags, 2,000-lb. totes and bulk.
