A farm bill extension included in fiscal cliff legislation has been approved by both houses of Congress, multiple media reports say. The measure now moves to President Barack Obama, who is set to sign it.

It’s unclear when the bill will be signed into law.

The U.S. House of Representatives approved the measure late Tuesday night, Politico reports. The Senate approved the measure in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day.

Under the legislation, various provisions of 2008 farm law will be extended into this year, Roll Call reports. Senate Agriculture Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) says legislators’ attitude toward the extension shows agriculture is not one of their priorities.

Among other activity, the extension is expected to keep milk prices in check, Gannett reports via the Des Moines Register.
