Milk Markets Finally See Some Green

Green was a popular color on CME ag commodity screens to kick off the week on Monday.

Green was a popular color on CME ag commodity screens to kick off the week on Monday. Class III, 4th quarter values added 16-32 cents to a quarterly average of $17.37/cwt. 2022 values ranged from 4 cents lower to 6 cents/cwt stronger. Class IV markets changed very little with the best performing month up 7 cents and worst month down 6 cents.

Butter traded 11 loads and 1.75 cents higher to $1.745/lb. Block cheese added a quarter cent to $1.71/lb. Barrel cheese did a bit better finishing 2 cents higher to $1.62/lb. Neither non-fat dry milk nor dry whey traded Monday. Those markets closed at $1.36 and $0.5725/lb, respectively.

Corn prices rallied 12 cents to $5.40/bu. 2022 December corn ended better than 2021 at 13 stronger and $5.18/bu. Soybeans traded higher in sympathy with corn as 4-5 cents/cwt of value were brought to the price. Soybean Meal added $1/ton. The wheat complex ranged from 5 cents in the green to a couple cents lower.
