The first week of December finished with gains in every product but one. The weekly average for butter jumped 11 cents to $1.43 ¾, Nonfat Dry Milk jumped 6 cents to $1.14 ¼, Dry Whey gained a penny and a half to $0.44 ½. Cheddar Barrels gained a quarter of a cent to $1.41, with only Cheddar blocks moving lower – dropping 6 ½ cents to average at $1.60 1/2/lb.
Friday’s spot CME trade had Butter up a quarter of a cent to $1.48, Blocks unchanged at $1.58 ½, Barrels fell 2 cents to 1.40/lb. Dairy powders were mixed with Non Fat Dry milk falling ¾ of a cent to $1.15, and Whey gained a penny to $0.46 1/4/lb.
Class III milk started the day higher, buy lost steam into the end of trading. December fell 10 to $15.35, January fell 26 to 15.72, and February fell 13 to 16.42, the balance of 2021 weakened 0-8 cents.
Class IV couldn’t keep up the drive higher. December was unchanged at 13.57, January also unchanged at 14.31, and February fell 6 cents to 14.71/cwt.
