Milk Prices Stay Calm After a Busy Week

A quiet end to a nice week in the dairy markets. Only Butter failed to improve their weekly average from last week.

A quiet end to a nice week in the dairy markets. Only Butter failed to improve their weekly average from last week. Blocks finished a penny up from last week at $1.80 ¾, Barrels up almost 9 cents to $1.78 ½, Non Fat Dry milk gained 5 cents on the weekly average to $1.43/lb with Whey up 1 ½ cents to $0.59/lb.

The spot trade on Friday had butter trading 14 loads, had 14 bids and 4 offers to gain 2 ¼ cents to $1.72/lb, Cheddar Blocks was unchanged at $1.81/lb and Barrels gained 2 ¼ cents to $1.79/lb.

Grade A Non Fat Dry milk gained 1 ¾ cents to $1.46/lb with Dry whey holding unchanged at $0.59 1/2/lb.

Class III Milk was unchanged in October to 18.03, November gained 3 cents to $18.71, and December gained 4 to $18.31/cwt.

Class IC milk saw nice gains across the curve. October held unchanged at 16.87, but November jumped 19 cents to 17.60, and December gained 33 cents to $17.89. 2022 months were 10-21 cents higher.

Feed prices also had a quiet week of range-bound trading. Corn fell 3 ½ cents to finish the week at $5.30 ¼, soybeans fell 4 ¼ cents to $12.43/bu, and soybean meal fell $1.30 to $317.50/ton.
