Balchem Suspends Marketing AminoShure-L

Recent research indicates that the lysine availability of AminoShure-L is lower than originally projected.

Balchem Corporation is the suspending the manufacturing and marketing of AminoShure-L (52% lysine) immediately.

AminoShure-L is a concentrated, encapsulated source of lysine for dairy cows. “Recent research indicates that the lysine availability of AminoShure-L is lower than originally projected, and [Balchem Corporation] has determined that it does not meet internal standards,” according to a Balchem press release dated May 29.

Most of AminoShure-L was included in premixes and grain mixes. “In the unlikely event a producer has an unopened bag of AminoShure-L (20 kg), he should contact his distributor directly regarding refund information,” says a Balchem spokesperson.

Balchem says the product is safe to feed, and intends to reintroduce AminoShure-L once it meets the company’s performance standards. In the meantime, the company recommends producers work with their nutritionist or feed supplier to transition rations.
