LeBron James and Other Celebrities Team up with Neutral Foods to Elevate Dairy Farms
The 18-time NBA All-Star, LeBron James, has partaken in countless business ventures since entering the league in 2003. Now, the Los Angeles Lakers basketball player is redirecting his energy toward a new commitment and has recently teamed up with his business partner, Maverick Center, along with other celebrities with the investor Neutral Foods, who claims to be the first-neutral food company in the U.S.
Neutral Foods milk is in about 2,000 grocery stores and has already received funding from a diverse roster. James, along with Philadelphia 76ers forward, Tobias Harris, and former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate, Kevin Love, and musicians John Legend and Questlove, and model, Emily Ratajkowski, have all become Neutral Foods stakeholders.
Neutral Foods CEO, Marcus Lovell Smith, says thanks to the early round of funding and belief in their brand and mission, they are well positioned for the future.
“We are well poised to continue to raise funds and awareness for our dairy products that consumers can immediately feel great about buying,” Lovell said in a statement. “We make it so simple for consumers as every single purchase of our milk and half-and-half helps fight climate change.”
Neutral says it works with dairy farmers to reduce the carbon footprint of their products and help develop a more sustainable food system.
“You don’t go onto a farm and tell a farmer what to do,” Smith says. “Farmers are one of the most independent minded groups of people in the country. So, I learned that pretty quickly.”
The company has been backed by Mark Cuban and Bill Gates-founded Breakthrough Energy Ventures and continues expanding nationally into Whole Foods Market and other grocery store chains around the country.
