California Milk Production Continues to Drop

California milk producers produced 3.07 billion pounds of milk in September 2009, USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service reported today. This was 5% below August 2009 and 6% below September 2008.

Monthly milk per cow averaged 1,730 lb. in September 2009, 90 lb., less than in August 2009, and 45 lb. below a year ago.
