Dairy Exports, Imports Both Down

U.S. dairy exports fell 26% in volume and 51.5% in value through the first half of 2009. But dairy imports are also down, 9% on volume and 15% on value.

U.S. dairy exports still exceed imports on a volume basis, 1,192 million lb. versus 742 million lb. On a value basis, however, imports through the first half of the year exceeded exports by $222 million. Last year, exports exceed imports by $644 million January through June.
