Dairyland Laboratories, Inc. of Arcadia, Wis. has announced a new offering of an enhanced tier of Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR) analysis of corn distillers grains and corn gluten feeds.

The new offering provides a full analysis of distillers grains and gluten using National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) standards. The Complete NASEM offering adds neutral detergent fiber digestibility (NDFD) at 12, 48, and 240 hours for both distillers and gluten, as well as the Ross Undigestible Crude Protein (UCP) on distillers grains.

Dairyland Labs has been performing NIR analysis on dairy feedstuffs for more than 30 years. The process programs a computer to recognize individual nutrients in a feedstuff based upon the amount of light absorbed at each near infrared wavelength. The technology allows producers and nutritionists to receive same-day analysis of 10-20 nutrients for the same cost it would take to measure a single nutrient using wet chemistry methods.

A less extensive, basic data package is also available from Dairyland Labs for both distillers grains and corn gluten, as is a Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System version 6.5 (CNCPS 6.5+) package.
