The University of Kentucky has just released a 32-page publication, “Compost Bedded Pack Barn Design,” that answers just about all your questions on the structures.

The publication covers site selection, barn layout, conventional versus hoop barns, ventilation, bedding materials, aeration and winter management as well as economics.

The publication is written by Jeff Bewley and Randi Black, both dairy and animal scientists, and Joe Taraba, George Day and Favio Damasceno, agricultural engineers, all from the University of Kentucky.
