In its October Dairy, Livestock and Poultry reports table released today, USDA is projecting the U.S. all-milk price to range from $13.50 to $14.30 in the first quarter of 2010, and to climb another 50¢ to 70¢/cwt by the second quarter of next year.
For 2009, USDA says the all-milk price will average from $12.05 to $12.25, the most dismal performance since 2002 when it average $12.12/cwt.
Cow numbers are expected to continue to fall, dropping to 8.97 million head in the first quarter, 8.955 million head in the second and to average 8.939 million for the year.
