New information is available in the ongoing investigation into the alleged animal abuse at Fair Oaks Farms. Witnesses this week confirmed Animal Recovery Mission (ARM) employees coerced their coworkers to perform the acts to be recorded.
“A third-party witness has come forward to corroborate the allegations made by a suspect that the ARM employee encouraged or coerced the behavior depicted in the portions of the video that have been released publicly,” Newton County Prosecuting Attorney Jeff Drinski says. “Detectives continue to investigate these claims through additional interviews and written discovery.”
Three former Fair Oaks Farms employees face animal abuse charges, authorities have only been able to find one of the employees.
Edgar Gardozo-Vasquez, 36 years old of Brook, IN was taken into custody June 12 on a warrant for animal cruelty and torturing or mutilating a vertebrate animal. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has a hold on Gardozo-Vasquez. It’s believed he was in the country illegally and had been apprehended by ICE officers previously.
