WSJ: Energy Prices Make On-Farm Manure Digesters Unprofitable
Methane digesters across the country are sitting idle as energy prices slump, according to the Wall Street Journal. The story, "Energy Prices Steer Farmers Away From Manure Power," says many on-farm digesters are no longer in use because the cost of maintenance exceeds the profitability of the massive machines. The story also says fewer digesters are being installed annually than in previous years, with only six new projects completed in 2014.
