Holstein springer prices posted gains in the last month for 3 of 4 reported markets. Dairy replacement heifer values continue to gain ground after years of anemic prices. In fact, values have nearly doubled compared to 5 years ago. The November 2023 average price for “approved” bred Holstein replacement heifers was $1609.19, compared to $823.08 in November 2018. And in less than a year, bred heifer values have improved about 25%, climbing from their starting point at $1,254.70 in January 2023. Meanwhile, Holstein heifer calves saw a healthy boost in Pennsylvania this month by nearly doubling in value. Nationwide, beef cross feeder calves continue to best the values of male Holstein  by approximately double as well.
