Four days of intense learning, peer networking, and innovation exposure await attendees of the 2023 Cornell Dairy Nutrition and Management Shortcourse, scheduled for June 5-9, 2023, at the W. H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute near Chazy, NY.

Designed primarily for early career nutritionists and allied industry professionals, the course will offer attendees practical skill development and technical knowledge in the principles of dairy cattle nutrition and their application to dairy herd management. Topics on the agenda include:

  • Forage production and silage management
  • Carbohydrates, protein, and amino acids; and fats and fatty acids
  • Calf and heifer nutrition
  • Environmental aspects of dairy nutrition
  • Nutrition and milk components
  • Transition cow nutrition and management

 

One afternoon will also be devoted to on-farm teaching stations at the Miner Institute Dairy Center.

The conference is a collaborative effort between Cornell University and the Miner Institute. Faculty and researchers from both institutions will provide instruction.

In addition to the in-person meeting, an on-demand online course featuring many of the same speakers and topics is also available for purchase. The online course contains approximately 14 hours of pre-recorded content and supplemental materials.
