Feed Colostrum With Speed

APC, Inc. introduces “The Perfect Udder,” a unique, patented system that allows dairy producers to feed colostrum replacer or supplement simply by adding warm water to a pre-measured plastic pouch than can then be fed to newborns via a feeding tube or nipple.

“Inevitably, your best cow decides to calve in the dead of winter at 2 a.m. You can’t wait around for colostrum to thaw, then hope it’s of good quality,” says Jim Quigley, Vice President and Director of Calf Operations for APC, Inc. “You need nutrients in that calf right away, and Perfect Udder with Acquire or Lifeline makes that happen. It’s a totally new way to feed calves that’s easy, fast and clean.”

The Perfect Udder pouch comes with either Acquire colostrum replacer or Lifeline colostrum supplement premeasured in a clean and sealed mixing bag. Just add warm water, shake vigorously to dissolve the solids and then add a drenching tube or nipple and take to the calf. There’s no clean-up—simply recycle the bag and feeder after use.

Acquire provides 150 grams of globulin protein, providing the right amount of nutrients in the right amount of time. Acquire should be used when maternal colostrum is poor quality or unavailable, or if maternal transmission of Johne’s is a concern.

Lifeline supplements existing colostrum if quality is poor, during heat stress or if the newborn is from a first-calf heifer.
