Butter and Milk Prices Hold Steady

Wednesday markets may lull us to sleep. After a strong couples in butter, we have treaded water the last few sessions at current level.

Wednesday markets may lull us to sleep. After a strong couples in butter, we have treaded water the last few sessions at current level. The CME spot trade had Butter holding unchanged at $3.48/lb with no trades, Cheddar Blocks and Barrels also held unchanged with no loads trading hands. Blocks at $1.70 ¼ and Barrels at $1.61 3/4/lb. Powder markets had a nice day, with Grade A Non Fat Dry milk moving 8 loads and gaining 3 cents to $ 1.21 1/2/lb and a whopping 21 loads of Dry Whey traded hands with a gain of half a penny to $0.31 1/2/lb.

Class IV milk followed NFDM and was unchanged in October at $21.59, but November bounced 12 cents higher to $20.80, December up 18 to $19.78, with 2024 inching up 3-34 cents. Class III milk was softer nearby with October down 1 at $16.84, November down 10 to $17.23, and December down 10 to $17.49/cwt. 2024 Class III mil was mostly 2-12 cents higher.

Grain markets were mixed and continue to also be softer as harvest continues on pace. Corn gained 2 ½ cents to $4.88/bu, Soybeans Fell 19 cents to $12.52 1/2/bu with soybean meal down 40 cents in December to $377.10/ton.
