Butter Prices Slip Lower

Class IV milk struggled as butter slid lower on Wednesday.

Class IV milk struggled as Butter slid lower on Wednesday. After some nice quiet days in the CME trade, butter fell 3 ¾ cents to $2.42/lb, giving back someone the slow gains it had been making. Non Fat Dry milk was unchanged at $1.22 3/4./lb.

Cheese also saw a slump, sliding a penny in Blocks to $1.88, and barrels fell 1 ¾ cent to $1.53 ./4. Dry Whey also held unchanged at $0.43 1/2/lb.

Class IV milk followed butter but held unchanged nearby. February at $18.97, and March at $18.93, but April fell 26 cents to $18.92, and May down 29 cents to $19.30/cwt.

Class III milk was pressured lower, but had minimum losses. February held unchanged at $17.93, March fell 8 cents to $17.66, and April fell 9 to $17.85/cwt. The balance of 2023 was unchanged to 11 cents lower.

Grain and feed markets took a needed breather. Corn fell 6 cents to $6.76 ¼, Soybeans fell 11 ¾ to $15.25 ¾ with soybean meal down $9.90 to $491.10/ton.
