Milk Prices Lower to Start the Week

Blocks and barrels finished lower to start the week in the CME Cash Dairy Product Trade.

Blocks and barrels finished lower to start the week in the CME Cash Dairy Product Trade. Block cheese eased 1.50 cents to $1.7950. Barrels were down 2.50 cents to $1.7650/lb. Butter held steady at $1.72/lb on 15 trades. Nonfat Dry Milk remained at $1.46/lb and Dry Whey at $.5950.

Class III milk futures were lower across the board minus November. October gave up a dime to $17.93/cwt. November rose 7 cents to $18.84/cwt. December milk fell 1 penny to $18.30/cwt. First half 2022 lost 1 to 11 cents.

Corn was able to finish higher despite most other grains settling lower on the day. December corn added 2.50 cents to $5.33/bushel. November soybeans decreased 14.75 cents to $12.2825/bushel. December soybean meal pushed $1.60 lower to $317.10/ton. December Chicago Wheat declined 2.25 cents to $7.3175/bushel.

Another mixed day in the livestock markets. October live cattle gained a nickel to $125.62/cwt. October feeder cattle settled 15 cents lower to $159.32/cwt on the day. October lean hogs gave up 30 cents to $89.95/cwt. November crude oil broke through $80/barrel to $80.44.
