Milk Prices Make Big Rebounds

Class III milk futures were higher across the board.

Spot cheese rebounded Thursday in the CME spot dairy auction. Block cheese gained 2.75 cents to $2.3625. Barrel cheese advanced 2.75 cents as well to $2.37. Butter dropped 3 cents to $2.69. NFDM fell 1.50 cents to $1.7775. Dry whey inched up half a penny to $0.64.

Class III milk futures were higher across the board. May milk climbed 41 cents to $24.58/cwt. June milk was 38 cents higher to $24.82/cwt. July milk finished 44 cents higher to $24.61/cwt. Class IV milk futures were lower on the day with both butter and NFDM moving lower.

The grain markets were mixed on the day. December corn fell 9.75 cents to $7.3875/bu. November soybeans added 2.25 cents to $15.3175/bu. July soybean meal dropped $2.40 to $463.90/ton. September Chicago Wheat slid 20 cents to $10.7525/bu.

The livestock sector saw both green and red Thursday. June live cattle was up $1.27 to $139.90/cwt. May feeder cattle rose $2.37 to $164.85/cwt. June lean hogs gave up $1.57 to $117.17/cwt. July crude oil finished $2.04 higher to $103.40/barrel.
