Beginning August 1, dairy producers will be able to purchase new AminoShure-L, an improved rumen-protected (RP) lysine that offers more of the amino acid at a more competitive price.
AminoShure-L contains 52% RP-lysine that offers much more nutrient consistency than blood meal at a cost competitive price. At a feeding rate of 19 grams/cow/day, AminoShure-L delivers 6.2 gm of metabolizable protein for 11¢/cow/day, says Scott Sorrell, director of marketing for Balchem.
In comparison, blood meal at $1,200/ton would cost 15¢/cow/day to deliver the same 6.2 grams of MP-Lysine. Blood meal needs to fall to $800/ton before it is a cheaper source. Even then, it may not be as consistent source of lysine as encapsulated, rumen protected products.
“AminoSure-L features a more concentrated lysine level, allowing nutritionists and dairy producers to maximize production, potentially lower overall ration costs, reduce the need to feed excess metabolizable protein and create more ‘room’ in the diet for other ingredients,” says Sorrell.
