Bio-Vet Introduces FermenAider Silage Inoculants

Blue Mounds, Wis. –
Bio-Vet, Inc., has introduced FermenAider silage inoculants with live, naturally occurring microorganisms and enzymes specifically selected for ensiling feeds. FermenAider inoculants contain numbers of beneficial bacteria shown by university research to be effective in improving fermentation of forages.

FermenAider inoculants help generate:

  • A more rapid and complete fermentation
  • Improved retention of forage nutrients
  • Improved silage stability and feed value

“Considering the cost of seed and feed inputs today, it’s more important than ever to ensure the worth of silage crops,” says Bill Helwig, Bio-Vet marketing director. “Silage inoculants are a research-proven method of maintaining silage quality and delivering its nutritional value to livestock.”

FermenAider silage inoculants are available in dry granular and water-soluble formulations. Both provide a minimum of 100,000 CFU (colony-forming units) per gram of forage. They contain multiple strains of bacteria to aid the fermentation process:

  • Homofermentative bacteria, which produce lactic acid to conserve the maximum amount of energy in forage
  • Pediococcus acidilactici to rapidly lower pH during the initial fermentation phase
  • Lactobacillus plantarum to complete fermentation at a lower, more stable pH

Bio-Vet, Inc., founded in 1991, researches, manufactures and markets direct-fed microbial and nutritional products for dairy and beef cattle, small ruminants and horses. Bio-Vet is a leader in using beneficial bacteria to improve animal health and productivity. The company holds U.S. patents for its innovative products.
