World Dairy Expo is almost here. For many of us in the dairy industry, we have been waiting all year for this big event to arrive. Our dairy team at Farm Journal is excited to head to Madison, Wis. for the big event. World Dairy Expo is home to one of the best-known dairy cattle shows in the world, along with top-notch educational events and a large trade show that has more of a family reunion atmosphere. Old friends to greet, new friends to meet, new products to evaluate, all the cows to admire, not to mention the Badger Dairy Club Grilled Cheese Stand with the fan-favorite grilled cheese sandwiches and creamy, delicious milkshakes.
This year’s event proves to be another exciting show. There are approximately 650 commercial exhibitors and numerous educational programs that provide an opportunity to visit with peers while learning from fellow producers and industry experts about different ways to make your operation more profitable. From Expo seminars, Virtual Farm Tours, Knowledge Nook Sessions, Expo en Espanol, FFA Seminars and Dairy Forage Seminars, there is something for everyone. And then there are the elite cows that are being shown in 10 breed shows and offered at auction in five breed sales. In fact, in 2022, 1,871 owners exhibited 2,696 head of cattle from 36 U.S. states and five Canadian Provinces.
