Major cheese maker Leprino Foods is boosting its cheese manufacturing capacity in New Mexico and Colorado.
The company is investing $1 million at its plant in Roswell, N.M., KOB.com/Eyewitness News 4 reported Thursday.
Leprino Foods is also expanding its considerable Colorado footprint with a new mozzarella plant, the Denver Post reported Aug. 29.
“Often reluctant to say much publicly, the low-profile Denver-based company is raising its stature with plans for a $270 million factory in Greeley,” the newspaper noted. “The plant and its 500 jobs are expected to produce a major economic uplift to northern Colorado — and help bring the state’s struggling dairy industry back to health.”
Colorado dairy farmers are expected to add 80,000 new cows to their herds in coming years and double current milk production to supply the Greeley facility, the Denver Post said.
