Borden Dairy Co. plans to close its Dothan, Alabama plant doors by Sept. 30. According to a Alabama news report, the reason for the plant closure is that “it could no longer support continued production.”
The Dothan facility is one of two southern plants set to close. The second Borden plant is in Hattiesburg, Miss., which also plans to close on Sept. 30.
Borden Dairy says they will provide notification pay, offer job transition support and the opportunity to apply for roles at other locations.
“After a thorough review, we recently informed employees and customers that New Dairy Alabama LLC, dba Borden Dairy will close its Dothan, AL and Hattiesburg, MS milk production facilities by no later than September 30, 2022, and will no longer produce in these states,” according to the company’s statement.
The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2020.
