USDA Dairy Advisory Panel Supports Supply Management

One vote margins pass the national supply management program and mandating California’s higher milk solids in fluid milk.

The International Dairy Foods Association is reporting that USDA’s Dairy Industry Advisory Committee voted to support both national supply management and mandating California’s higher milk solids in fluid milk. Both proposals passed with one-vote margins.

The committee also voted to endorse a new revenue insurance program and to further review Federal Milk Marketing Orders.

The committee will meet one more time, January 12-13, to finalize its report.
