The Center for Dairy Excellence in Pennsylvania is once again offering its popular “Spanish for Agriculture” virtual course, presented by dairy producer and Spanish instructor, Katie Dotterer.

The eight-week course will feature twice-weekly sessions from April 11 through June 1, 2023. Courses will be presented live on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:30-8:30 p.m. EST, but also will be recorded for access by participants at their convenience until July 14.

Dotterer will cover vocabulary and phrases to improve participants’ Spanish skills and enhance communication with Spanish-speaking farm employees. Enrollment is not restricted to Pennsylvania residents.

Separate courses will be offered for Dairy/Ag Beginner and Intermediate levels. Intermediate students will receive live instruction, while the Beginners Course will receive recent, previously recorded classes. But all students will be able to correspond with Dotterer to receive help and answer questions.

Previous “Spanish for Agriculture” student and dairy veterinarian Jennifer Kauf said, “I took both of Katie’s courses and was wishing for a third. The courses focus on teaching Spanish vocabulary that is used every day on the farm. The greatest benefit to taking this course is the rapport that is built with Spanish-speaking employees when they see you working on bridging the language gap.”

Homework is assigned for reinforcement of the material, and students receive a certificate of course completion after submitting their final assignment. Learn more about the course and registration here.
