The Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium (WLIC) introduces Livestock Vantage, a nationwide initiative to help create understanding, awareness and motivation for a unified livestock ID and traceability effort.
As part of the initiative, WLIC has launched a website, www.theLivestockVantage.com, as an education guide to reach out to those who will benefit from a better understanding of national livestock ID. The website features an innovative, interactive game to illustrate the need for and the benefit of ID and traceability.
The entire initiative hopes to build support for premise registration, animal ID and traceback capability to help control and eliminate animal diseases in the event of a disease breakout. It also supports the day-to-day management benefits of animal ID.
“The Livestock Vantage was developed to generate new found excitement and support for producers and consumers who take action and ownership in an integrated livestock traceability program,” says Robert Fourdraine, WLIC CEO.
