National DHIA offers college scholarships
National Dairy Herd Information Association (NDHIA) is offering scholarships for incoming and continuing students at technical and two-year and four-year colleges/universities.
To be eligible for an NDHIA scholarship, the applicant must be a family member or employee of a herd on DHIA test, a family member of a DHIA employee, or an employee of a DHIA affiliate. The DHIA affiliate for the herd or affiliate employee must be a member of National DHIA. (Alabama DHIA, Arizona DHIA, Colorado DHIA, Dairy Lab Services, Dairy One Cooperative Inc., DHI Cooperative Inc., Idaho DHIA, Indiana State Dairy Association, Lancaster DHIA, Louisiana DHIA, Minnesota DHIA, NorthStar Cooperative DHI Services, Puerto Rico DHIA, Rocky Mountain DHIA, San Joaquin DHIA, Southeast DHIA, Tennessee DHIA, United Federation of DHIAs, Vermont DHIA and Washington DHIA are National DHIA members.)
Judges will evaluate applicants based on scholastic achievements and leadership in school and community activities. Applications are due Sept. 30, 2008. Recipients will be announced at the 2009 National DHIA annual meeting, being held March 4-5, in Boise, Idaho. NDHIA will award about 25 $500 scholarships.
