The U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC) is trying to bolster dairy innovation and sales in Singapore, and from there, the rest of southeast Asia.
In late May, USDEC signed a memorandum of understanding with the Food and Innovation and Research Centre (FIRC) at Singapore Polytechnic to develop dairy products for the Southeast Asian market. The agreement is similar in purpose to an agreement signed with China earlier this year.
“Singapore is a hotbed of food innovation and the gateway to Southeast Asia,” says Tom Vilsack, USDEC CEO and president. “FIRC’s team of food technologists, packaging specialists and engineers is at the forefront of establishing Singapore as a strategic food hub. We are very excited to be working with this innovative group and look forward to sharing U.S. diary technology and expertise.”
USDEC’s 2018 focus is to demonstrate how U.S. dairy protein, milk powder, specialty ingredients and cheese fit the taste preferences and nutritional requirements of the region. Efforts are mainly focuses on health and wellness and culinary tastes.
