ClariFly® Larvicide Blocks and Tubs Available for Cattle and Equine

ClariFly® Larvicide feed-through fly control are available now in blocks and tubs through partnering feed manufacturers. The EPA recently approved four new end-use registrations, which for the first time include equine and cattle on the same ClariFly® products. The new end-use registrations for use in blocks and tubs contain the active ingredient Diflubenzuron at concentrations between 0.01% and 0.08%.

The products are touted for their effectiveness at such small rates of active ingredient. The required intake for cattle only needs to be at 0.1 mg/kg of body weight/day, while the equine rate is only 0.15 mg/kg of body weight/day.

The new ClariFly® Larvicide blocks and tubs join the current lineup of dry feeds, liquid supplements, premixes and custom blends. ClariFly® Larvicide is a feed supplement that prevents adult house flies, stable flies, face flies, and horn flies from developing in and emerging from the manure of treated cattle and prevents adult house flies and stable flies from developing in and emerging from the manure of treated horses. Unlike conventional insecticides that attack the nervous system of insects, ClariFly® Larvicide works by interrupting the fly’s life cycle, rather than through direct toxicity, and it does so with no impact on the animal consuming it.
