Keep ClariFly® Larvicide in Feed 30 Days after the First Frost

As summer comes to an end, remember to continue feeding ClariFly® Larvicide into the fall until 30 days after the first frost to minimize the number of overwintering pupae. This is because the first frost is not a perfect indication that the flies’ growing season has ended. Typically, even after the first frost, temperatures will spike enough for all fly eggs, larva and pupae to continue their cycle in untreated manure.

To control manure-breeding flies, all cattle on the premises need to consume adequate quantities of ClariFly® Larvicide every day. The feeding level for this product is 0.10 mg of diflubenzuron per kg of body weight per day, except for calves weighing 100-200 pounds.

For calves weighing less than 200 lbs., please follow the labeled feeding rate chart below to ensure calves receive the full benefits of ClariFly® Larvicide.

For ClariFly® Larvicide to be the most effective, start integrating back into feed early in the spring, 30 days before flies begin to appear. This will ensure that the active ingredient is distributed in the manure when overwintering pupae begin to emerge.
