There is no doubt this year has been tough on the ag industry. However, many have found a way to persevere and still help feed a hungry world. That's why Agriculture Future of America is recognizing one individual with the "Beacon of Hope" award.

AgDay National Reporter Betsy Jibben introduces us to a Southern Indiana woman who helps producers find a market for their product. She also gets food into the hands of people in need.

Sam Schwoeppe knows dairy. She grew up on one, lives on one and strives to help others who want to benefit from one.

“You’re constantly, at the end of the day, you’re trying to nourish more people,” says Dubois County, Indiana producer, San Schwoeppe. “If you have a problem, I want to be able to help you think through and find the solution [on] how to solve it.”

Schwoeppe solves problems while promoting the dairy industry. She connecting multiple people together, behind a computer screen, on a phone and through travel as she's the Dairy National Account Manager for Feeding America.

At the same time, producers were asking how to help nourish hungry families impacted by COVID-19. Sam connected the right people who then set up county drive thru distributions in multiple states.

“It was exciting, it was real exciting to get to see the good things happen,” says Schwoeppe.

Congratulations Sam Schwoeppe, a Beacon of Hope award winner for 2020.
