Class III Milk Slides Higher

Friday continued a slow gain in the milk markets for the week.

Friday continued a slow gain in the milk markets for the week. Strength in the CME spot trade continues to support Milk. Cheddar found some buyers with Blocks gaining a penny to $2.30/lb with Barrels up 5 ½ cents to $2.36 ¾. Combined we traded 12 loads of Cheese on Friday.

Butter was unchanged with 2 loads moving at $2.78 ¼. Grade A Non fat Dry milk also gained half a penny to $1.82 ¼. With Dry whey holding unchanged at $63 1/2/lb.

Class III milk slid higher in April, up 5 cents to $24.18, May jumped 15 to $24.85, with may up 5 cents to $24.64/cwt.

Class IV milk was higher nearby with April up 7 to $25.32, May up 8 to $25.20 and June up 6 cents to $25.16/cwt.

Grain and feed markets continued their strain on the dairyman’s bottom line after a relatively quiet USDA Supply and Demand report. Corn finished 11 higher at $768 ¾, soybeans gained 43 ½ to $16.89 with soybean meal gaining $8 to $468.20/ton.
