Milk Markets End Rough Week on a Low Note

Milk markets closed a very rough week in similar fashion on Friday. Block cheese declined 5.5 cents to $1.55/lb on 3 trades. Barrels ended the session unchanged at $1.65/lb, one trade was executed. Butter exchanged 10 loads from seller to buyer and ended three-quarters of a cent lower to $2.7575/lb. Nonfat added three-quarters of a cent to $1.1975/lb. Whey was off a quarter cent.

Class III milk markets suffered another big break in the early months of 2024. March softened 19 cents while April was off 39 and May lost 33. June through December 2024 months ranged from unchanged to 15 cents lower. Class IV slowed its decent down for the week and settled anywhere from 4 cents lower to 8 stronger.

Grains closed the week in a mixed form. Corn fell a nickel with settlement on new crop at $4.59/bu. Soybeans rallied 14 cents in the spot markets and 6 cents in new crop. Meal traded $3/ton higher. Wheat ranged from 15-22 cents lower across its complex.
