After battling recent declines, fluid milk consumption is back on the rise. According to a report from the National Milk Producers Federation, total fluid milk consumption in August was up 1.6% year-over-year. It’s also higher for the entire year with year-to-date consumption up 0.7%.

This rise is consumption is part of a strong demand story for dairy. Domestic consumption of yogurt, butter, fluid milk and cheese all increased more rapidly than U.S. population. This as milk production is slightly lower than a year ago, which is helping to shore-up prices.
