Fluid Milk Consumption Trends Higher

After battling recent declines, fluid milk consumption is back on the rise.

After battling recent declines, fluid milk consumption is back on the rise. According to a report from the National Milk Producers Federation, total fluid milk consumption in August was up 1.6% year-over-year. It’s also higher for the entire year with year-to-date consumption up 0.7%.

This rise is consumption is part of a strong demand story for dairy. Domestic consumption of yogurt, butter, fluid milk and cheese all increased more rapidly than U.S. population. This as milk production is slightly lower than a year ago, which is helping to shore-up prices.
