The ribbon has officially been cut on a new dairy processing facility located in Amarillo, Texas. Cacique Foods had its grand opening earlier this month and celebrated its 50th anniversary with the company’s newest location.

“It is an exciting day to have my family and the community here to see what we have built,” Gil de Cardenas, CEO of Cacique Foods LLC, said during the grand opening. “We started with 128 sites in multiple states and were able to choose Amarillo for so many wonderful reasons.”

Cardenas notes that the proximity to multiple dairy farms and centralized location made Amarillo an ideal location for his facility. The company says the expansion is due to a growing demand for their authentic Hispanic cheeses, cremas and chorizo.

“Cacique specifically chose Amarillo for this new plant location because, from our first visit, we knew this community was special,” de Cardenas said. “It’s a vibrant, thriving and diverse melting pot of cultures, and thanks to the hospitality, work and support of everyone from the Governor’s office, Randall County, the city of Amarillo and the Amarillo Economic Development Council, Amarillo was an easy choice.”

The company says the new 200,000 sq. ft. facility will bring 200 jobs to the area

“This has been such a family and neighborly experience dealing with the people of Amarillo, and we are excited to be a part of the community,” Cardenas added.
