Minnesota-based Land O’Lakes, Inc. took the No. 2 spot on the NCB Co-op 100® list of the nation’s top 100 cooperatives, released today.
With 2009 revenues of $10.409 billion, Land O’Lakes also led all other U.S. dairy cooperatives last year.
Thirteen U.S. dairy cooperatives joined Land O’Lakes on the top 100 list, which is issued annually to coincide with October’s National Co-op Month.

CHS Inc., the diversified energy, grains and foods company based in St. Paul, Minn., earned the top spot on the NCB Co-op 100 with 2009 revenues reaching $25.730 billion.
Agriculture makes up the biggest sector of the NCB Co-op 100 list, with 2009 revenues reaching $87.927 billion, nearly three times as much as grocery sector, which holds the No. 2 spot. Other sectors include energy and communications, finance, hardware and lumber, and healthcare. In all, the top 100 co-ops generated $175.6 billion in revenues for 2009.
