Obama Delays Immigration Action

But President says he’ll take action before the end of the year.

President Barack Obama says he will wait until after the mid-term elections but before the end of the year to act on immigration reform, according to the Huffington Post.

On NBC’s “Meet the Press” yesterday, the president said the delay gives more time for future action, including legislation. Plus, it will allow him to more fully explain what he is intending to do. "… it’s going to be more sustainable and more effective if the public understands what the facts are on immigration, what we’ve done on unaccompanied children, and why it’s necessary,” Obama said.

Democratic members were pressing the president not to act before the mid-term elections, fearing they’d have to distance themselves from the President’s actions.
