Ohio Cow Abuse Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

Ohio dairy employee pleads not guilty to animal abuse case shown in Mercy for Animals video.

The Associated Press is reporting that Billy Joe Gregg, Jr. has pleaded not guilty to 12 counts of animal cruelty and one count of a felony weapons charge.

Gregg is shown allegedly abusing animals in a Mercy For Animals video shot in April and May at Conklin Dairy Farms near Plain City, Ohio.

Last week, Gregg was charged with improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, according to the Columbus, Ohio Dispatch. A loaded handgun was found in Gregg’s vehicle, and was accessible to the operator or passengers without leaving the vehicle, which is a violation of law.

If convicted on the weapons charge, he could face up to 18 months in prison. He also faces up to a fine of $750 and 90 days in jail on each animal cruelty charge, with a maximum combined sentence of 18 months.
